James Franco is a favorite. Especially after this clip.

They All Gasped in Shock

I just like this picture.

Left Behind

Monday morning when my Mom drove me to work, we kept noticing all these clothes strewn in the road. We started wondering why there were clothes in the middle of the road all.over.town.

Me- 'Maybe it was the Rapture.'
Mom- 'Why were all those people in the middle of the road? At night?'

We decided if it was indeed the Rapture, then we were left behind. At least we were left behind together.

Later Mom decided that the clothes were scattered by a woman scorned. That is as awesome as the Rapture.

Winter What?

I bought some boots. For the first time in a month, my feet are finally warm. I have worn them for three straight days, only taking them off to sleep. Warm feet=Happy Melissa.

Like Emily, I have been making postcards. Just spreading the Postal love.

Your One Beauty

My freshman year of college, I took a communications class. One of our assignments was to write three compliments on an index card for each person in the class. I found these cards while I was cleaning my room this week. Almost every card said this...

'You have gorgeous hair'
'I love your new hair cut'
'You have the most beautiful hair'
'You have nice hair!'
Mostly this is hilarious because I never said a word in this class. My fellow classmates had to search for compliments because they had probably never heard me speak. But I do love a compliment about my hair.

A Love Affair To Remember

My love for Clive is torturous at best. The dog ate my journal. But then he does adorable things like this...

You want to take him home, oh you do.

Pride Cometh Before the Fall, OR How I Fought the Meat Slicer And Lost

I went back to my job on Monday. Same job. New position. Teresa trained me, making sure I knew what I was doing. Tuesday comes. Teresa is still there just in case I need something. She says 'Melissa, you are such a fast learner!' I started getting a little confident, a little cocky. So I put my hand a little too close to the moving blade. Mistake!

I got 8 stitches for my confidence.

Do You Remember...When We Met Last Summer*

We like to pretend it is not 30 degrees outside and eat otter pops.

Unfortunately, someone ate all the other colors. Now there are only purple and green ones left. But, they were still delicious. Tastes like Summer.

All My Wildest Hopes and Dreams Have Come True

I am now the owner of a button assembly machine. How awesome is that?

The quality of these pictures isn't that great but this button assembly machine makes some amazing buttons. I have been wanting one of these machines for years and now I am making buttons like mad.

And yes, the first button I made had Zac Efron on it.

Do you want a button? Or a handful of buttons?
Let me know. I want to share the button love!

Trouble, Oh Trouble Set Me Free

There has been some trouble since I got back from DC. At least according to Kimbers. I have been leaving my lipgloss around, which is tempting Kimbers. Trouble, trouble.

This Is The Last Time

Last night, my last night in DC, my fellow intern Rachel insisted on one last 'Monuments at Night'. At night, the monuments all glow. There are not very many people around which makes it perfect. Beautiful.

In an effort to take one last picture of me in DC (for now), I decided to jump off a concrete barrier by the Lincoln Memorial. I severely underestimated the height of said barrier. So when I jumped off the barrier, I wasn't prepared and fell flat on my face. Jump, fall forward, come down hard on the knees.

I laughed hard. Rachel laughed hard. But the people sitting right next to the scene of my embarrassment Did Not Laugh. Which made me laugh more. And still laugh about it right now.

Thanks DC. Can't wait to see you again! I already miss you.

p.s. I posted on the National Postal Museum's blog. Read it here. Also you should comment...I want to get the most comments that blog has ever had!

Makes Me Want to Watch the Gilmore Girls episode with TJ and the Tights

Ahh, the Renaissance Festival. Not something I willingly participated in but as Emily reminded me, lousy experiences make good stories. Part of my reluctance to go was the fact that it has been raining for the past three days. I went and it turned out pretty hilarious.

The 'knights'. I felt so bad for the poor horses because it was raining hard. I didn't feel so bad for the 'knights' because they are doing this for fun. No one is forcing them

I don't know his official name is but I think he was pretty disappointed in our cheering abilities. No one was much up for a Huzzah after standing in the rain for hours. He did have the coolest costume.

Me and my umbrella. There were usually performers huddled under the available dry areas. I heard some Beach Boy renditions along with official pirate songs.

My shoes and my mud soaked jeans.

I just couldn't stop laughing about this. Patterned tights and crocs. Hilarious.

This was my favorite part. Who cares about jousting, lets watch people hit each other with sticks!

Take Me Home

Sometimes when I am bored at work, I look at the National Zoo's flickr page.
I want to take him home and love him forever.

But He Left All the Books to HER

The Library of Congress. Perhaps one of the most beautiful places on the planet. I am in love.

There is a fantastic exhibit displaying Thomas Jefferson's personal collection of books, the ones he sold to Congress after the library burned to the ground. It was so lovely. Thousands and thousands of books organized the way he had them organized.

The books are lovely, the rooms are lovely. Can you tell I loved it there?

I want to study in that reading room(and I might get the chance!).

The arch says 'Library of Congress', which you can't really tell from the picture. I smiled like that the whole time I was in there.

I just can't even believe that I have been to the Library of Congress. AHH!

I also saw the Capital, which was pretty amazing.

Did anyone else ever read American Girl magazine? I remember reading about this monument and the petition to get it into the Capital. It was wonderful to see it in real life.

Lucretia Mott, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony. I may have snuck away from my group to get these pictures. Then I couldn't find them. Oops.

This may have been one of my favorite days so far. Even though I have 6 blisters to show for it. Definitely worth it!
